MEMORANDUM

TO: CPMT Chairpersons/ CSA Coordinators

FROM: Charlotte V. McNulty
Executive Director

DATE: October 2, 2009

SUBJECT: CSA Coordinator Model Job Description

SB 1181, enacted by the 2009 General Assembly, requires the Director of the Office of Comprehensive Services (OCS) to develop and distribute a “model” job description outlining the duties and responsibilities of a local CSA Coordinator. The legislation also states that OCS shall “provide technical assistance to localities and their coordinators to help them to guide localities in prioritizing coordinator’s responsibilities toward activities to maximize program effectiveness and minimize spending.” A small workgroup composed of CSA coordinators, a parent and a private provider, along with OCS staff met to discuss and provide suggestions regarding the development of the job description using the additional legislative language to inform the work. The job description was also shared with the State and Local Advisory Team (SLAT) for their input.

The model job description may be found heremsw. It is written in the format used by state government for the Employee Work Profile (EWP) which provides the purpose of the position, the knowledge, skills and abilities needed, educational and experience required, and then a description of each area of responsibility organized by theme.

This job description is intended only as a resource for localities and CPMTs to use in development of their expectations of a CSA coordinator and in recruitment and employment of staff. It is meant to provide a concise way of summarizing expectations of CSA coordinators and should not be construed as a directive or mandate in any way.

I hope you find the model job description helpful.
