The Office of Comprehensive Services welcomes Carol C. Wilson as our Technical Assistance Coordinator for the Northern Virginia region.
The Office of Comprehensive Services welcomes Carol C. Wilson as our Technical Assistance Coordinator for the Northern Virginia region. A native Virginian, she comes to us from Kentucky where she has extensive experience working with the Department for Social Services, both at the local and state levels. More recently, Carol served as Program Manager for the Kentucky IMPACT program, a system of care for children and youth with emotional disabilities. In this capacity, she served as staff to the State Interagency Council (similar to Virginia’s State Executive Council), provided technical assistance to regional councils and programs, organized and provided training on systems of care issues, facilitated collaborative workgroups on services for special populations such as children with autism, and co-wrote a successful grant proposal for the state to implement a school based mental health system of care in Northern Kentucky. Carol is also the adoptive parent of a sibling group of six children who were in the foster care system, which has helped her understand the family perspective of parents seeking assistance in meeting their children’s emotional and mental health needs. Her children are all adults now, and she is a very proud “grandma.” Carol attended the University of Virginia and received her BA from the University of Richmond. She can be reached at (804) 662-9817 or by e-mail at carol.wilson@dss.virginia.gov.
